Autumn Closer
When: Monday 3rd October 2022
Where: Gloucestershire

On a lovely sunny Autumn morning we found our way to Crickley Hill Country Park for coffee and enjoyed spectacular views over several counties with the Malvern Hills in the distance. The car park was at the bottom of a 1in5 hill and all the cars made it down and up! Our oldest member at 101 years old made light work of it on his feet! Lunch was a few miles away at The Green Dragon, Cockleford, where we all enjoyed an excellent meal. Six Hotchkiss made the run with one new member coming in an Anjou, which was a welcome sight. One Lancia Augusta was present with a member working on collecting parts for an Edwardian restoration.
Many thanks to Shirley and Alan Newbury for arranging this event. CHG
August Pub Meet
When: 14th August 2022
Where: Stanford Dingley

Once again the sun shone down on us for this annual event. 25 members arrived gradually during the morning at The Bull Inn, Stanford Dingley, and re-acquaintances were made over coffee in the shady garden. A very enjoyable lunch was served efficiently before we all headed off to Two Hoots, Bucklebury, the home of David and Erica, for tea and delicious cakes and strawberries. Everyone enjoyed sitting in the shade in the garden and left feeling very replete! Our thanks go to David and Erica for once again hosting this very enjoyable event.
30th Milestones Drive

When: 12-14th July 2022
Where: Wintney and beyond

Spring Opener
When: Sunday 28th April
Where: Oxfordshire
A rather cool cloudy day did not deter about 20 members meeting at The Old Flight House in Weston on the Green in Oxfordshire for welcome coffee and delicious cake. After greeting friends and partaking of the refreshments, there was time to explore this antiques and vintage centre – a real treasure trove. The 13-mile drive to lunch took us through some pretty countryside before we arrived at The Falkland Arms, a cosy 16th century pub, in picturesque Great Tew. All too soon it was time to say our goodbyes and head for home. Thank you to Clive and Toddy for arranging our day out.
After 3 years, we finally made it! The 30th Drive started at the Phoenix Inn, Phoenix Green, Hartley Wintney, where the Vintage Car Club held its first meeting. All 23 participants gradually arrived to partake of a very relaxed lunch outside under a pergola. It was such a treat to meet up again with everyone – and special mention must be made of Don from Australia and Erik and Denise from Portugal. We then had a short drive to Highfield Park hotel, our base for the Drive.
Visits during the 2 days included the Milestone Living History Museum in Basingstoke, The Vyne, a National Trust house and Mike Waller’s private collection of classic cars and bicycles. We were pleased that David & Erica Tipton joined us on both days, and Christopher & Ann Balfour joined us on the Wednesday.
The sun shone brightly during the Drive, and we were able to have celebratory fizz on the hotel’s veranda while listening to our President’s speech before our celebratory dinner. The raffle raised £140, and Doug & Kathleen Crowther were presented with the Ainsworth Trophy.
It really was a wonderful 2 days; it was such a pleasure to spend time together after such a long time. After lunch on Thursday, there were lots of hugs before we all returned home.
