Autumn Closer
When: Sunday 10th October
Where: Oxfordshire
The Burford Garden Centre just outside Burford made a very good starting point for Alan and Shirley Newbery’s Autumn Closer. Queuing for coffee was not a priority as there was so much to see and purchases to be considered before we drove via Bampton to the chosen lunch stop.
The Lamb Inn at Buckland, around twelve miles away, welcomed 18 of us - as they had a couple of years ago. Food had been pre-ordered which made for a very relaxed couple of hours. As well as the regulars and founder members, David and Erica Tipton, Alan and Gill Goodyear and new members Edward Bick, and James Coates made up the numbers.
It was another chance to get back to normal.
August Pub Meet
When: Sunday 15th August
Where: West Berkshire
Once again the weather gods were kind to us! 24 of us met for coffee at The Bull in Stanford Dingley, and while we were catching up on news etc, a jeep arrived in the car park which caused great interest. It turned out to be a Hotchkiss Jeep, complete with a mounted machine gun, owned by a friend of David and Erica. After an excellent lunch, we all made our way to Two Hoots, where David and Erica provided us with copious amounts of tea and delicious cakes as we sat in the sunshine.
Our thanks go to David and Erica for arranging such a pleasurable day out.
Back in The Saddle
When: Thursday 1st July
Where: Oxfordshire
We made it at last! 24 members and friends met up at Aston Pottery for coffee and cake – and for lots of catching up. We were especially pleased to see three new members, Edward Bick, James Coates and Michael Raahauge. There was a good turn-out of cars which looked resplendent in the car park. Following an 11 mile drive through pretty countryside we arrived at the Bear and Ragged Staff in Cumnor for luncheon in the sunshine. Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch – and continued with a lot more talking! – before it was time to say our goodbyes.
Very many thanks to Michael and Michael for arranging such a special day.
